04/12/2024OnlinePARE Celebrates Triumph at THE Awards 2024
Dear OnlinePARE Community,
We are thrilled to share that Chester Business School, the home of OnlinePARE, has been awarded Business School of the Year at the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Awards 2024. The announcement was made at a glittering ceremony at the ICC in Birmingham on Thursday, November 28, as the THE Awards celebrated their 20th anniversary, hosted by comedian Miles Jupp.
Comedian Miles Jupp and representatives from Chester Business School and the University of Chester Students’ Union, including Dr. Mike Brownsell (fourth from the left), celebrate on stage as Chester Business School is awarded Times Higher Education Business School of the Year 2024.
This award is a recognition of the transformative work Chester Business School and OnlinePARE are doing to innovate and excel in higher education and healthcare practice. Our platform was proudly highlighted in the Business School’s winning submission, which showcased its role as one of the UK’s definitive clinical practice assessment tools. Over the past year, OnlinePARE engaged more than 90,000 university users and over 160,000 NHS and healthcare professionals – a record achievement that underlines the critical part it plays in supporting healthcare education and the NHS workforce.
Judges praised Chester Business School and OnlinePARE for “its focus on its net zero ambitions through collaboration on large-scale industrial decarbonisation challenges in the north-west” and recognised “its exceptional work with Health Education England, engaging the largest cohort of future healthcare professionals to realise efficiencies in the development of skills and practice development for the NHS”.
This milestone also coincides with OnlinePARE’s tenth anniversary, marking a decade of growth, innovation and service to our users. Our commitment to enhancing clinical practice assessment and fostering partnerships between universities and healthcare providers has never been stronger, and this award serves as a testament to the shared efforts of our entire community.
Reflecting on this achievement, Dr Mike Brownsell, Head of Division (PARE) at Chester Business School, said: “I'm delighted that PARE has played such a significant part in the Business School success. It reflects not only the skills and commitment of the PARE Team, but also the support and engagement of the wider PARE user community.”
As Dr Brownsell highlights, this recognition would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of our users – students, academic staff, and healthcare partners alike. As we celebrate this achievement, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide innovative tools that advance practice assessment and multidisciplinary, educational collaboration.
We thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm for OnlinePARE. Let us celebrate this success together as we look forward to many more achievements in the years to come.
Kind regards, The OnlinePARE Team
05/11/2024NEW FEATURE: Practice Assessment Documentation and Practice Educator Assignment by HEI Staff.
Following multiple requests, the ability for University placement coordinators to assign documentation directly to a practice educator for some programmes has now been extended to include Senior HEI Administrators and Academic Links.
Whilst designated university placement coordinator staff manage the student assignment process across the majority of programmes, some programmes rely more directly on the programme delivery team. In such cases, the academic staff and programme leads can now directly allocate the practice educator / Learner assignments prior to placement to ensure timely learner and practice educator access to documentation.
For further guidance please see the User Guide, which is available as a PDF download via the following Help Centre link:
21/10/2024Improved Practice Educator Assignment Screen
As part of PARE's ongoing commitment to accessibility, Practice Placement Senior Administrators and Practice Educator Leads may notice a slight change to the appearance of the page they use to assign clinical supervisors and assessors to learners.
The page now fully complies with WCAG 2.2 AA Standards and we have took the opportunity to add a search option, to allow for direct searching on an educators name rather than scrolling through the list of possible options.
We hope you like the improvement and welcome any feedback.
01/10/2024The National Education and Training Survey (NETS) is now open! (NHS England message)
This is a message on behalf of NHS England. Please note, this does not refer to (or replace) the questions completed regularly in PARE as part of the placement evaluation process.

18/06/2024New Feature - HEI Staff Assignment of Practice Assessors
HEI placement coordinators now have access to assign Practice Assessors directly to learner placement allocations on PARE via a new assignment feature accessed from the learner account profile screens, placement allocation pop-up.
The new feature is particularly beneficial for placement circuits reliant on HEI staff to manage the practice staff assignments for the learner placement allocations in the absence of PARE team leaders and PEFs within the placement provider organisations, and for assignment of off-site and long-arm practice assessors to learner placement allocations (HEIs must ensure they have relevant data sharing agreements in place with placement providers).
HEI placement coordinators may also switch on the additional practice staff assignment role for standard HEI Senior Administrator accounts, and HEI staff with the practice assessor role enabled on their PARE account may also be assigned to learner placement allocations, in addition to practice staff, via the new feature.
For further guidance please see the User Guide, which is available as a PDF download via the following Help Centre link:

03/06/2024MFA roll out - HEI staff
Over the next 3 weeks, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be switched on for our university partners. This is in line with NHS England's requirements for improved data security. The key dates are: 6 June: HEI senior administrators; 13 June - academic staff; and 20 June - learners.

What You Need To Know:
Activation Today: MFA will be activated on your account today. This added security measure will require you to enter a unique verification code sent to your registered email address in addition to your password when logging in.
Browser Authentication: Once you enter the code, your browser will be authenticated and remembered for six months. This process may need to be repeated for each browser or device you use to access PARE, and is subject to your organisational network settings.
Code Validity: The verification code is valid for 15 minutes. If you miss it, you can request a new code to be sent.
Action Required:
Please ensure that your email address associated with your PARE account is correct. This is crucial for receiving the MFA codes and ensuring seamless access to your account. You can verify your email address by visiting your profile on the PARE platform.
Need Help?
If you encounter any issues with MFA or need assistance updating your account information, our Support Team is here to help. Please raise a ticket through the Help Centre, and we will assist you promptly.
Thank you for your co-operation and for helping us enhance the security of your account. Your proactive steps in confirming your email details will ensure a smooth transition to MFA.

03/05/2024Action Required: Please confirm your account details are correct
Dear OnlinePARE users,
As we prepare for the broader launch of our multi-factor authentication in the coming weeks, we're reaching out to all users with an important request: please take a moment to ensure that your OnlinePARE account details are up-to-date.
Following the launch, when signing in from an unrecognised device, users will be required to enter a unique verification code sent to the email address associated with their OnlinePARE account. As such, it is important to confirm that the contact information on your account is accurate.
You can view and amend your account information by visiting your Profile.
Your proactive steps in verifying these details will help ensure a smooth transition to multi-factor authentication and bolster the security of your account. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Your feedback is invaluable, and we're committed to making your experience with OnlinePARE the best that it can be. If you have any questions or need assistance amending your account information, please don't hesitate to raise a support ticket via the OnlinePARE Help Centre for further assistance from our Support Team.
Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

17/04/2024Dashboard Appearance: Slight Changes
Sharp eyed users may notice some recent changes to the appearance of their PARE dashboard and system functionality pages. For example, the green colour used to denote a function confirmation button is now a slightly darker green, and several screen font sizes have altered.
These changes are part of ongoing work linked to accessibility standards ('WCAG 2.2 AA' compliance) and you may note further similar changes to screens and documentation over the next few months.
There should be no disruption to the service, however the PARE team remain committed to ensuring accessibility for all its users and as the changes unfold, we would be keen for any feedback on the changes and individual user needs via the raise a ticket function from your dashboard.
10/04/2024Roll out of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
To help protect your data, over
the coming few weeks we are rolling out multi-factor authentication to all PARE
users. MFA has been piloted successfully over the last few months. MFA is a more secure, increasingly industry-standard approach to user account logins.
When you login to PARE,
you will be asked to enter a unique code sent to your PARE primary email/username in addition to your password. Once entered, this authenticates (remembers) the browser for a
6-month period. Authentication codes are valid for 15 minutes, but they can be re-sent if they are missed. Each browser you use for PARE will need to be authenticated, and it will be remembered for 6 months before the process needs to be repeated.
The roll out will begin
with our placement users by type of PARE account. We will repeat this with our HEI users including
learners, and finally all other type of PARE account users.
If you experience issues when
MFA is switched on for you, the Support team will assist you; please raise a
ticket through the Help Centre in the usual manner.
25/01/2024HEI Senior Admins - Introducing the new 'Wipe Page' tool
Dear HEI Placement Coordinators,
We're excited to announce the introduction of the 'Wipe Page' feature on OnlinePARE assessment documents, available now for all HEI Senior Administration staff with the 'Placement Coordinator' checkbox on their profile ticked.
This tool allows administrators to efficiently wipe pages of an assessment document when necessary, providing your students with more effective support to remove and re-enter information.
Please exercise caution, however, as the 'Wipe Page' action is irreversible; it is strongly advised that administrators save a PDF copy of the page or document before wiping data.
Your feedback is invaluable, and we're committed to making your experience with OnlinePARE the best that it can be. If you have any questions or need assistance with the new form, please don't hesitate to raise a support ticket via the OnlinePARE Help Centre for prompt assistance from our Support Team.
Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

16/01/2024PARE Governance: Data Sharing Agreement pages update
Further to the news item of the 29th November, we remain on track to discontinue use of the PARE DSA support functionality in favour of HEI's using their own alternate processes.
To aid the transition the DSA governance pages now include a PDF download of the agreements for respective senior HEI administrators and university governance leads to download current DSAs for their own files.
The service remains on schedule to stop allowing new use of the functionality from Friday the 26th of January 2023, with complete closure of the service on the 26th of February 2023.
PARE data processing agreement processes are unaffected by this change.
29/11/2023PARE Governance
Due to recent clarification on the scope of NHSE educational contracts in relation to data sharing agreements, the process by which PARE aids HEIs to track their data controller to data controller agreements will change.
From January 2024, the current PARE DSA feature will be removed and replaced by a feature specifically focussing on the PARE Data Processing agreements with its participating HEIs.
HEIs who currently rely upon the present PARE DSA functionality to track agreements with their placement provider partners are advised to ensure alternative arrangements are in place going forward.
Further information can be obtained through the PARE support centre via a ticket request.
13/11/2023Scheduled PARE maintenance: Monday 20/11/2023, 21:00 – 22:00
The PARE website will be unavailable for 1 hour, 21:00 – 22:00 on Monday
20th November whilst we carry out essential server maintenance. Please
ensure you save all updates and log out of PARE by 21:00 on Monday 20th.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We're pleased to inform you that placement audits created using the ‘Yorkshire
and the Humber’ (Y&H) template will now have a new 'Analysis of Learner Capacity'
section. NHS England asked for the additional section to allow further capacity
data to be captured and calculated as part of the placement audit.
The new section will appear for audits created on or after 01/11/2023
and is accompanied by corresponding updates to the capacity section of the
placement information page. Further information and guidance can be found
within the new 'Analysis of Learner Capacity' audit section and sidebar.
30/10/2023HEI Senior Admins - The 'Assign Document Request Form' has been updated
Dear HEI Placement Coordinators,
We're excited to inform you that the Assign Document Request Form has received an important update.
The form now includes a mandatory field for the Document ID; you can easily locate this unique identifier at the bottom of every page in an assessment document. This ensures precision in the assignment process, guaranteeing that each document is matched with the correct student, every time.
To streamline and enhance your experience in coordinating assessment document assignments, we encourage you to start using the latest version of the Assign Document Request Form, now available for download from the OnlinePARE Help Centre.

25/09/2023HEI Senior Admins - New Report: HEI Practice Educators
Following feedback from our HEI partners in the Northwest, the OnlinePARE team have introduced a new report to identify Administrators and Academic Staff within your organisation with the optional 'Practice Assessor' flag in their Profile switched on.
The optional 'Practice Assessor' flag allows HEI Staff to interact with their learners' documents as if they were the named Practice Assessor (NMC programmes) or Clinical Educator (non-NMC programmes) for that student, allowing them to complete and amend otherwise-restricted elements of assessment typically completed by Placement Provider staff in the assessment document and timesheet.
To access this new report, click Reports from the OnlinePARE header bar, and then select HEI Practice Educators from the side-bar:
Feedback from our partners on this new feature is, as always, welcomed via the OnlinePARE Help Centre's Support Ticket service.
Kind regards, The OnlinePARE Team
12/09/2023New Practice Evaluation Question Set (North West users - from 18/09/23)
Most learners using PARE can evaluate their practice placement using a set questionnaire. There are two main question sets, The NETs survey (primarily used in the Yorkshire and the Humber region) and the PARE multi-professional question set, used in the North West and beyond. The PARE multi-professional question set has once again been reviewed, amended and aligned to the current North West learning environment audit process by a multi-professional steering group. Please note, the question set & associated reporting updates below apply to North West HEIs & associated users only.
The changes take effect for placement allocations that start on or after Monday 18th September 2023, irrespective of when they were added to PARE. The NW multi-professional steering group are keen to emphasise the importance of ensuring evaluations are supported and completed and have asked that learners are reminded that you can seek support from your personal tutor as needed.
Users with access to PARE's evaluation reports will be able to select the new PARE question set when accessing PARE evaluation report data from 18/09/23. The new question set will be the 3rd version of the PARE NW question set and will be titled 'PARE 2023'. Users will be able to run reports against all 3 versions using tailored filters. Results may not be directly comparable as individual reports will be required for programmes with placements that span different NW PARE question set periods.
03/08/2023Report Update: Learner Hours Completed
On the 3rd August 2023, the "Learner hours Completed" report, accessed by senior placement and Senior HEI administrators was updated. The report CSV now displays 30 minutes of activity as 0.5 hours. Therefore 2 hours and 30 minutes is now shown as 2.5 hours. This is to align with commonly used accounting software into which PARE data is often uploaded.
11/07/2023Preceptorship Tool - Reporting
Good News! The Northwest Multiprofessional Preceptorship
Tool is now fully up and running with complete reporting functionality thanks
to our fantastic web developers and your feedback as stakeholders during the
development phase. Click here https://support.onlinepare.net/hc/en-gb/categories/4412353119761-Preceptorship to find out more.
05/07/2023For the attention of HEI staff users: Assigning Assessors / Tutors to Learners - New Reporting Features
It is now possible for HEI staff to sort learner details in the Assign Assessors/Tutors screen, to facilitate the identification of those that have yet to have assessors and/or personal tutors assigned.
Another enhancement to this screen is the addition of a CSV download feature, to produce a report of all the learners displayed in this screen, including HEI assessor/personal tutor assignments, and the practice assessor/educator assignments to the document placements.
21/06/2023PARE Document Revisions - New Version of Change Request Form
An updated version of the PARE Document Revisions - Change Request Form is now available for download from the PARE Help Centre. See following link to view and download the form:
On completion of the Change Request Form, the document can be submitted to the PARE Team as an attachment to a Help Centre Support Ticket.
31/05/2023New Feature – Improved Display of PAR ID on Assessment Documentation
All PAR documents now display the unique PARE document id number on the front cover and bottom of each page.
The PAR ID serves as a cross-reference for placement co-ordinators to check that the correct document version has been identified for assignment. It also allows a user to identify exactly which version of an assessment document they are using when contacting the PARE support centre.
Pop up hint text is now also available to placement coordinators to more easily identify document IDs allocated throughout a student's programme.
30/05/2023Nursing Disciplines - Field of Nursing Enhancements
The Nursing discipline field on PARE now supports the specification of dual fields of nursing and has been extended to include the combined disciplines (Nursing and Social Work, Nursing and Paramedicine).
Whilst the field of nursing has always been specified on the learner data csv import file for the Nursing discipline, this item may now also be optionally supplied for the combined disciplines. The field of nursing (including dual field) may also be entered directly on the learner's profiles screen.
Please see the import guide, available for viewing via the Import Data screen, for the full list of valid fields of nursing.
The development of the Northwest Multiprofessional Preceptorship Tool is nearing completion and organisations can now sign up to the full product from August 2023 onwards.
The cost to an organisation will be based on a licence fee of £9.90 for each Preceptee account, per year. In return, your organisation will receive project initiation support from the University of Chester PARE team, along with initial training to get things started smoothly.
17/03/2023Enhancements to Document Listings on PARE
The presentation of the assessment document lists on PARE, as used by placement coordinators for the assignment of documents to individual learners, now includes the ordering of the documents according to document sets.
This will make it easier to identify and allocate the correct document, where a programme has multiple options.
The new enhanced listing structure is designed to offer placement officers a clearer view for the continually evolving practice assessment document requirements. The PARE team welcome your feedback.

19/10/2022Midwifery New Feature: Year-Long Practice Assessor Assignment
Following the changes to the NMC standards for Midwifery practice assessments, the PARE team have introduced a new feature to support the assignment of a year-long practice assessor to the learner's MORA document (Midwifery Ongoing Achievement Record). HEI Senior Administrators for Midwifery learners can link the Practice Assessor to the learner's document via a new 'Year-Long Assessor' item on the front page of the MORA document. Clicking on the item opens a pop-up for entry of the Practice Assessor's account email ID. Learners also have access to link a Practice Assessor via this item, and the feature is to be extended in the future to enable Senior Placement Administrators to assign the year-long practices assessors for the Midwifery learners on placement at their organisation.

14/01/2022PARE access Issue from 01:00 to 08:45 on 14th January
We have discovered that some users were unable to access PARE during the night of the 14th January.
We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience. It appears to have been caused by routine maintenance carried out by PARE's web hosting company, resulting in unexpected consequences to some users when logging on.
The issue has now been resolved and the company are investigating the cause to prevent re-occurrence.
Again, we would like to apologise to those healthcare students on night shifts who were affected.
17/12/2021Practice Evaluation Question Set
Most learners using PARE can evaluate their practice placement
via a set questionnaire with the PARE system.
There are currently two question sets, The NET survey (Primarily
used in Yorkshire and the Humber) and the PARE multiprofessional question set,
used in the Northwest and beyond.
The PARE multiprofessional question set has been reviewed, condensed,
and aligned to the learning environment audit process by a multiprofessional
steering group. The changes take effect for placements that start on or after,
1st January 2022. The new evaluation questionnaire will be available on PARE in early January.
For those users who use the evaluation report functionality,
we would like to remind analysts that report summaries are therefore not
comparable across 2021 and 2022. The report filters will be altered to take
account of both pre and post question sets. Individual reports will be required
for programmes with placements that span 2021 and 2022.
We have had several trusts email to ask if the PARE system uses any software processes affected by the recently Log4j security vulnerability.
We have completed a thorough review of our IT infrastructure and can assure all users that LOG4j is not installed on any of our IT systems.

10/10/2021FAO North West Users. A message on behalf of the EELE Project.
Please see below for an initial message from the EELE Project. Further updates will be a link to a further blog update rather than the full content (https://northwestpracticeeducationgroup.wordpress.com/).
Enabling Effective learning Environments (EELE) September 2021
In September
2019 Health
Education England (HEE) outlined, in their Quality Strategy, a need for
improved clinical placement education systems where healthcare education and
training is well-led, effectively managed and provides supportive learning
environments. Regional funding was allocated to be used across all healthcare
professions with the agreement to plan and deliver a series of projects to
fulfill the core elements of Enabling Effective Learning Environments. The
NW region had a real opportunity to bridge the gap left when traditional
modules used to prepare Educators, across all practice, were no longer available and
instead develop innovative multi-professional online learning materials to
prepare our educators, recognising that supporting and assessing learners
adopts the exact same principles across all Nursing, Midwifery and Allied
Health Professions.
The Northwest
Practice Education Group (NWPEG) embarked on an ambitious plan to develop a
multi-professional framework for educators and are the main Stakeholder group for
the EELE project. University of Salford and have created a dedicated team to
lead the project; (Prof Jacqueline Leigh, Jill Windle Programme Manager, Dr
Christina Vasilica and Sumaila Asuru. The overall aim was to develop a multi-professional
framework for Educators by producing an education programme that can be flexibly
delivered, and on a platform that can be accessed, providing the consistency of
supervision and assessment faculty development across all organisations and a
range of roles and responsibilities.
A Steering
Group was established in February 2021 with representation from a wide range of
professional groups, HEI’s and organisations from across the northwest region.
This ‘Task and Finish’ have been working hard to design creative and interactive
digital learning content that is currently being used by our Learning
Technologists to produce a series of bitesize units of learning that will make
up the final EELE NW Multi-professional framework .
What next: During the
next few weeks the bitesize units of learning will be developed, reviewed, and
tested ready for release in the autumn. The learning materials have been
designed to prepare practitioners new to the Educator Role which will include
those new to their professions as well as experienced staff who have missed out
on training for this role in the past. The materials are also designed as a
useful means of updating knowledge and skill for experienced Educators. The
learning materials will be housed on the HEE Learning Hub and accessible to professional
groups across the Northwest Region.
As we progress with this final stage of the
programme, we want to keep all our Educators and potential educators informed
and have launched ‘Be a NW Educator’ campaign, please follow our
progress and keep up to date with and future Blogs by following @NWPEG1 on
twitter.
PARE currently allows for a clinical educator to sign an entry by using a single mobile device whilst the student is logged. This improves convenience when a single device is being used.
The clinical educator username and password is prevented from being saved on the mobile device, however we are temporarily suspending this functionality to increase security of this feature following a recent major browser update.
In the interim, we would ask clinical educators to sign document and timesheet entries using their own device, or fully log out as the student and back in as the educator if using a single device.
We apologise for any inconvenience and will let all know when resolved.
02/08/2021Placement Senior Administrators - Notifications by Discipline
Recent enhancements to the list of learner disciplines on PARE includes validation to ensure that notifications for negative evaluations and PAR document issues are filtered according to the disciplines selected on the PARE account profiles of Placement Senior Administrators.
If you are a Placement Senior Administrator, it is therefore important to keep your list of disciplines up-to-date, i.e. the learner disciplines/programmes that you support on PARE, in order to ensure that you receive all relevant notifications.
23/07/2021PARE Auto-notifications
Due to the amount of uncertainty and change to placement and clinical educator allocations brought about by the pandemic in early 2020/21 academic year, many of the auto-notifications relating to allocations and assessment progress were switched off following placement provider requests.
Now that the situation appears to be more stable, several notification functions will be reinstated over the next week. Depending on a users situation, this may mean several outstanding actions may be highlighted once again, so this news item is aimed at raising awareness and giving an explanation why several notifications may appear in short succession.
We ask for your patience and understanding while the process re-aligns to the current situation.
19/07/2021PARE Reports Update 22nd to 23rd July
PARE is preparing to launch a set of improvements to the reporting functionality. This will include a much greater ability to report on specific placement and user groupings linked to your personal "My Groups" settings.
To make the changes, the Reports functionality will be temporarily suspended from AM on the 22nd July to the Afternoon of the 23rd July. No other PARE functionality will be affected.
Apologies for the short notice. This is to allow for the changes to be in place before the end of July reporting period.
12/07/2021New Return to Practice Discipline on PARE
With the advent of Allied Health Professional Return to Practice (RTP) Programmes, PARE now hosts a multi-professional version of the RTP document. This means that RTP is no longer associated to NMC programmes, and clinical educators and university staff are reminded to ensure that have selected 'Return to Practice' in the list of disciplines within their profile in order to be able to access RTP learner documentation.
In addition, RTP student data being imported onto PARE will require 'Return to Practice' to be stated as the learner discipline.
05/07/2021Senior Practice Staff - New Feature to View Staff Email Lists
All Placement Senior Administrators and Placement Educator Leads on PARE now have access to a list of the PARE account email addresses for each placement to which they have access, in the one handy pop-up screen.
If you are logged onto PARE as a Placement Senior Administrator or Placement Educator Lead, then from the User tab, Manage Placements menu item, an 'emails' link is displayed against each placement in the list. Click on this link to open the Email Addresses pop-up, which displays the account email addresses, for the staff accounts linked to the placement, as a delimited list that can be copied and pasted straight into the appropriate header field ('To', 'CC' or 'BCC' field) in your email client (e.g. Outlook).
01/07/2021Placement Senior Administrators - New Feature to View Temporary Access Documents
If you are a Placement Senior Administrator and have recently been granted temporary access to one or more students' PAR documents, you may now view these documents all in the one location.
Go to the Assessment Documents screen, and in the Placement drop-down an 'All Temp Access Allocations' option is displayed above the Placements list, if you currently have temporary access to one or more PAR documents. Select this option to view the list of applicable student details and the links to the PAR documents.
25/06/2021Merseycare Take Over of North West Boroughs Healthcare
Following the take over of North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NWBH) by Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust on 1st June 2021, all former NWBH placements are now under Merseycare on PARE.
The Wigan and Leigh placements are under the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH).

HEI staff with the placement coordinator role on PARE now have access to a new feature for viewing and adding other documents to a learner account, i.e. documents in addition to the main assessment documents, that are assigned for the duration of the learner's course. This includes documents such as the Ongoing Achievement Record OAR) for Nursing and Nursing Associates.
From a selected learner's profile screen, placement coordinators will see a 'View/Attach Other Documents' button underneath the learner's placement allocations. Click on this button to open a pop-up to view existing other documents for the learner, and/or to add a document.
To support the unprecedented changes to placements during the pandemic, and as requested by HEIs, PARE registered practice assessors can now gain assessment
access to a students’ previous placement documentation.
This will enable access to skills assessments and other key pages for
placements that were only partly completed or deferred altogether, which still
need to be completed and signed off by staff verifying the achievements in a
later placement.
For Nursing & Midwifery programmes, the practice educator must have
their permission level set to Practice Assessor on their PARE account profile
and will need to be assigned temporary access to the document by the student or
HEI staff, if not already allocated to the student.
12/05/2021Placement Educator - online training

10/05/2021Improved PARE Functionality: Recording of specific user profession..

groups are using the system. To improve usability

background within their profiles and re-confirm the learner professional groups
they are currently working with.
In addition, users will also notice several multiprofessional
programmes being incrementally added to the learner support list. Regardless of your own profession, if you are
acting as a clinical educator for a learner on one of the multiprofessional
programmes, please visit your profile and ensure the required programme is selected. Thank you.

The Grant Temporary Access Feature is accessed via the Document Settings link at the top of the front page of the assessment documents. The temporary access pop-up window now includes a tick box for HEI staff to 'Give this person practice assessor/educator access rights to this document'.
07/04/2021Clarification of NMC Emergency Standards
During the pandemic the NMC have taken the decision to allow the same RN to act as Assessor and Supervisor for a single student. The PARE code has been altered to allow this. However, this relaxation does not mean that supervisor level RNs can be assigned as an Assessor, and sign Assessor designated summative pages within a Nursing or Midwifery Document.
Registered Nurses and Midwives are still expected to follow NMC guidelines and Self-declare as an Assessor when suitably experienced / prepared.
We have had several recent enquires around this issue, so if unsure of the current guidance, please contact your partner University for support. Thank you.
30/03/2021NMGH Placements to Move to Manchester University NHS FT on 1st April 2021

All student data for students currently attending NMGH placements (or have future allocations set up on PARE for these placements) will be brought across to the new NMGH placements under MFT on Thursday. All HEI staff and practice staff linked to the original placements under Pennine Acute will also be linked to the new NMGH placements under MFT from Thursday onwards, and the original Pennine Acute NMGH placements will be closed down.
29/03/2021Changes to PARE NMC Educator Register and Personal Profiles
Now that the last of the programmes based on the old 2012 NMC Standards are coming to a close, there is no longer a need to retain the 2012 annual update and triennial review data fields within a practice educators profile.
This will shortly be removed leaving just the last update field relevant to the majority of clinical educators. This change will also affect the educator register in relation to NMC Assessor / Supervisor data.
If we have omitted to cater for a specific groups requirements, please contact info@onlinepare.net with all queries. Thank you.

An improved Programme Hours Totals section on the student dashboard, including the display of the yearly totals for most programmes.
New, Unsigned Activities indicators, both in the documents and on a student dashboard, to make it easier for students and supervisors to see where activities remain unsigned.
Night Shift recording: To enable the multi activity functionality and improvements above, and meet your universities' need for accurate recording of practice hours on a daily and weekly basis; the new timesheets require a more exact data entry within one 24 hour period. Night shifts can therefore no longer be entered just once to span the start and end days. This small inconvenience allows for much better reporting for the student, the placement area, and the university, so we hope users will agree that once understood, this change is well worth the benefits.
20/01/2021Updated PARE Timesheet Learner Guide & New Timesheet Features

05/01/2021New Mark Sheets & Student Dashboard Features
All programmes and professions with online student assessment documentation on PARE now have access to Mark Sheets. As previously noted in an early Newsfeed item, the new style Mark Sheets amalgamate all hours from both old and new versions of PARE timesheets and support the latest Pan North/Pan Midlands Nursing PAD. In addition, the timesheet display on a student's PARE dashboard has enhanced features:
Old and the new versions of PARE timesheets are now reported.
Clearly distinguishable practice and theory hours subtotals. Note: for Nursing Associate programmes, the hours included in the dashboard totals are the programme related hours from the timesheets - hours recorded on timesheets for non-programme activities are not included.
For programmes with online student assessment documentation, the programme totals are further displayed as totals for each of the course years.
Additional hours, manually entered on the Mark Sheets by HEI administrators are also now displayed within student dashboards.
05/01/2021Course Year Allocation - New Feature for Placement Coordinators
In order to meet requests for user-specified course year allocation for online PARE documentation, the course year that is applicable for a placement allocation can now be managed, and amended by placement coordinators if required, where timesheet only records exists. Should the programme year, in which a timesheet was completed need to be changed, then this can now be achieved via the Edit Placement Allocation pop-up screen.
Changing the Course Year will automatically re-calculate the total hours that are displayed on the associated Mark Sheet.
16/12/2020Timesheet Recording of Night Shifts: Information for Students and Assessors
Following the launch of the new style timesheets, to support multiple activity recording and other enhanced features, the recording of nightshift activities can now be recorded so that the hours are entered for the exact day for which the activity took place.
To record a nightshift which spans two days ( for example 19:30 to 00:00 on Monday and 00:00 to 07:30 on the Tuesday), the shift will therefore be entered as a separate entry for each of the days. The hours up until midnight are entered as an activity for the first day that the night shift falls on, whilst the hours that are completed after midnight, are entered as an activity for the following day,
This will enable accurate recording of complete practice hours on a daily and weekly basis, where these hours include night shift hours.
11/12/2020New Cohort Mark Sheet & Student Hours Dashboard display.
The nursing and midwifery programmes
on PARE have now all been switched to an improved Mark Sheet format.
PARE professions such as nursing
associates, physiotherapy, SLT etc., are due to have access to the improved
Mark Sheets within the next few days. The new Mark Sheets are based on a
similar format to the original reports, but with numerous enhancements including:
Clear display of
total practice hours and total theory hours (if recorded) for the programme,
for each year/part of the programme.
Full amalgamation of all hours from both
old and new versions of PARE timesheets
Direct access to each student’s
profile, timesheets and specific documentation from within the Mark Sheet view
Support
for the latest Pan North/Pan Midlands nursing PAD, including the new document
checklists, and MORA document.
Mark Sheet availability for programmes using
PARE timesheets only.
Faster Mark Sheet loading time, and student navigation
via a new pagination toolbar.
Student Dashboard Programme Totals
The switch over to the new programme
totals display, on student dashboards, is also due from the middle of next
week. The new display will incorporate the hours from the new PARE timesheets,
and will display both student and university hours to ensure consistency and
clarity where appropriate.
25/11/2020Covid19 Response - Temporary Adjustment to PARE Documentation Sign-Off Restrictions
In support of HEI guidance in response to the Covid19 emergency, the reduction of some higher access level restrictions for practice staff data entry and sign off for PARE documentation continues in place. Access to sections/signatures that are normally restricted to the main clinical educator, such as the allocated Practice Assessor for the nursing profession, is currently open to additional placement staff with an appropriately validated PARE account.
The PARE team are following the national Covid19-related developments closely and will communicate further PARE updates to the emergency response, including reintroduction of the standard access restrictions, as and when instructed by HEIs.
02/11/2020New Student Hours Report Available.
We have created a new report function on PARE, which allows HEIs
and placement organisations to run the quarterly reports of student practice hours for HEE.
The report has a range of date, profession, and placement Organization
filters and can be found via the main Reports tab on Senior HEI Administrator and PEF dashboards, then by selecting Learner Hours Completed from the left hand side tabs.
The report page explains that although the report gives the placement
start and finish dates, the report hours given, are only for the from and to,
filter dates requested.
We hope this will meet everyone's needs. We are aware of the importance of this data, and have extensively
tested the accuracy of the filter system.
However due to the short timeframe for the report development, and the
multiple cohort variables involved, please review the outputs are as you would
expect and, as always, feedback is gratefully received.
26/10/2020New Style PARE Timesheet: Roll-Out to All Professions
Following the recent launch of the new style PARE timesheets, the new timesheets have now been rolled out to all nursing, midwifery and nursing associate programmes and will be available to students as they start on new placements. The new timesheet will be rolled out to the remaining programmes over the next couple of weeks.
The timesheets continue the existing time-recording activities, but with enhanced design features including the facility to record more than one activity per day, an auto-save feature to save data as it is input, and the auto-creation of timesheet weeks on the assignment of the timesheet to a student’s placement. The days of the week display vertically, and the display of individual weeks can be expanded or minimized as required.
The new timesheets are accessed via the new 'Timesheets section' of the student's PARE dashboard, above the original Practice Record of Attendance section for those students who have the original PARE timesheet for earlier placements.
Please see the New PARE Timesheet Learner Guide (link below) for further details. Full guidance is also available in the PARE Learner Guide, available via the PARE dashboard ‘View User Guides’ link.
06/10/2020TNA students - locating your New Style Timesheets on the PARE Dashboard.
With the introduction of the new style
timesheets, for TNA students, the system manages them slightly differently to
the old timesheets that were in use prior to 31st August.
Consequently, they can now be found on your PARE
Dashboard in the block labeled Timesheets. To access your current new timesheet, just
click the appropriate link within this block .
For those of you who completed timesheets for placements that started prior to 31st August you will find these timesheets in the block labelled Practice Attendance Records.
You will also be able to find the links to the new timesheets :-
within the TNA document, every page has a shortcut link that opens the
and within the Dashboard link to your document .
If you still do not see the link to your new timesheet, by any of these methods, then please contact your Placement Office to check that you have been assigned a timesheet. If the Placement Office confirms that the timesheet is set up correctly for your account then they will forward your query to the PARE team for further investigation.
26/08/2020Launch of New Timesheets – Support for Multiple Activities Per Shift
New style timesheets have now been launched on PARE,
starting with the new timesheet for the apprentice nursing associate
programmes. The new timesheet has been developed with maximum flexibility in
mind, in order to support new features that have been requested by the PARE user
community. In particular, the new style timesheet supports the time recording
for more than one activity per shift. The timesheets have been designed to be
very intuitive to use and continue existing functionality, whilst supporting
new features:
Hours can now be
recorded for more than one type of activity per shift, with each
activity having its own sign off. The days of the week display vertically
instead of horizontally in order to allow for the addition of more than
one activity type per shift.
The available activity
types for which hours can be recorded is customisable according to the
requirements of each individual education provider’s programme. Activity
sign off can also be restricted to just practice staff, or academic staff,
as applicable for a particular activity type.
The weeks display on the
timesheet when the timesheet is first created and do not have to be added
individually by the student. The weeks default to the week dates that fall
between the placement start and end dates.
The display of the weeks
can be expanded or minimised for more efficient display and navigation
There are numerous timesheet settings that are customisable
for the new timesheets, such as the title for signatures (Practice
Supervisor/Assessor, Practice Educator, or Clinical Educator, HEI Academic
Advisor, HEI Tutor etc), the sub totals that may be required for certain
activity types, whether sign off is required for recorded hours to be included
in totals, and so on. The PARE team will be sending communications to the leads
of each programme, as the new timesheets are rolled out, in order to determine
the settings required for each programme.
16/07/2020New Feature to Locate a Placement within a Region
HEI Senior Administrators now have the facility to locate a placement on PARE, by searching across all placements within a specified region, and without first having to select an organisation.
The 'Search Placements' screen includes a new region filter, and in combination with an entered search text string, this will help locate a placement within a region.
15/07/2020Preceptoring Document Now Available for Radiography Preceptees
Following the successful launch last year of
the preceptoring programme on PARE for nursing preceptees, the preceptoring
document is now available on PARE for radiography preceptees.
PARE Senior Administrators with access to the
education accounts for their organisation may now manage radiography preceptees
accounts and assignment of the preceptoring document. Please note that all PARE
users who require access to the radiography preceptee documentation on PARE,
including Senior Administrators, must have radiography selected as a profession
that they work with on PARE, in their PARE account profile.
Further AHP preceptees are planned for inclusion in the precpetorship project following further evaluation and Health Education England direction.
01/07/2020Scrollbar Issue on IE11
The PARE team have noticed a slight issue for users who regularly use Internet Explorer 11 to access PARE. Currently, when viewing 'pop-up' pages on PARE, such as when Mentors attempt to view their own Self Declaration, there should be additional scroll bar that allows them to scroll all the way down to the page.
This can, however be resolved if the user uses other alternatives to move down the page, such as using the Up and Down arrow keys on their keyboard, or using the scroller on your mouse, so this issue is easily fixed.
In the meantime, this issue will be looked into ASAP.
19/06/2020New Filter on Mark Sheet for C19 Opt-In Students
The Mark Sheets now include a C19 Opt-In Students filter. HEI Senior Administrators and Academic Links may select this option on the Mark Sheet for a selected profession and cohort, to display the report for the C19 Opt-In tagged students only.
05/06/2020New Version of User Guides Available
The latest version of the PARE User Guides (version 1.1) is now available via the 'View User Guides' link from your PARE Dashboard.
A separate User Guide is available for each type of PARE account: Learner (Student), Academic Link, HEI Senior Administrator, Placement Educator, Placement Educator Lead, and Placement Senior Administrator.
14/05/2020HEI Senior Administrators - Timesheet Grant Temporary Access Facility
HEI Senior Administrators now have the facility on PARE to grant temporary access to practice assessors/educators for timesheet sign off, where access has expired for the practice assessor/educator.
This is the same facility that is available to HEI Senior Administrators for granting temporary access to assessment documents, and can be accessed via the Document Setting link on the Timesheets.
24/04/2020COVID 19 - Additional Support Function
PARE has been asked to help universities keep track of 2nd and 3rd Year healthcare students volunteering for non-supernumerary roles within practice.
To do this, all Nursing and Midwifery student profiles now contain a C19 Opt-in designation tag which can be toggled on or off. When the designation is switched on for a student a C19 tag appears next to their name anywhere they appear in PARE.
This allows Practice Educator Leads to clearly see which students allocated to their areas have opted in to the non supernumerary roles, and which are standard student allocations.
University staff can also see a full list of all C19 Opt- In students for their programmes by first searching on their student organisation email stem, and then searching on C19 when the second search box loads.
We hope this additional function will help staff monitor and support students during these challenging times.
14/04/2020Updated User Guides
There is now a link on both a users dashboard and within the Help tab to updated PARE user specific guides.
03/04/2020COVID 19 - NMC Emergency Standards & PARE
With the advent of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Emergency Standards varying normal practice assessment requirements, the PARE system will be temporarily altered to allow:
Exceptionally an Assessor can undertake the supervisor role for the same learner if required.
The inclusion of a drop
down menu to allow students moved outside of a PARE serviced area to
record the name and contact details of a non-PARE account holder in
place of a PARE registered supervisor signature. This can then be
checked / countersigned at a later date if required.
Time sheets no longer
require verification signatures for the hours to be added to a
student’ total during the emergency measures period. (This allowance
to be used only when essential).
Students and Assessor / Supervisors are requested to continue as normal when completing the documents whenever possible, but it is hoped that these changes will allow some latitude to cope with the frequency of student moves and altering practice environments over the next few weeks.
Please contact your local HEI and the PARE team with any queries.
16/03/2020PARE Service Update: COVID-19 Business Continuity
During a time of rapidly developing responses within university and placement provider organisations, please be assured that steps have been taken to ensure PARE services will be maintained.
All development delivery timelines remain unchanged, as does all assessment and evaluation provision. Due to the need for remote working from our normal office environment, the direct telephone number support service has been temporarily suspended and personnel switched to responding via the info@onlinepare.net helpline which remains unaffected.
We will obviously keep all stakeholders informed of a return to normal office working, however are confident of maintaining an unaffected service.
06/03/2020New Feature for University Education Providers
PARE has just released an additional feature for Academic Links
who also act as Academic Assessors (e.g. Midwifery, Nursing, and Nurse
Associate Programmes). In the same way that the PARE system builds a
portfolio record of all assessment episodes and signatures for placement
clinical educators’ PARE now provides the same automatic portfolio function to
University Academic Assessors.
You can view your portfolio by clicking on your profile tab
(top right of screen) and accessing a configurable report on your activity.
If you do not work as an academic assessor (or have yet to
be allocated any students) you will not see this function in your profile. If you ahve already been an active academic assessor, you can also access anonymised
records of any assessments / interactions recorded to aid as evidence for re-validation,
although no name redacting programme is infallible, so careful checking is essential
by the user. Finally, Senior HEI
administrators can now access a report on academic assessor activity to aid
workload planning. Go take a look!
13/02/2020Placement Educator Lead Permission Set Change
To cater for differing types of placement settings and collaborative training groups across organisations, Placement Educator Leads (Team managers) are now restricted to viewing the educator register for their area of responsibility only, and not the entire organisation. The organisation level view is now restricted to the Senior Placement Administrator.
Additionally, to cater for placement education leads who are not educators ( such as some healthcare practice managers) Leads will shortly have the ability to toggle inclusion in the educator register (and its associated functions) on and off to suit their role.
For further information or to give feedback, please contact info@onlinepare.net.
28/01/2020New Development: Placement Groups
We are please to announce an exciting new development on PARE: Placement groups will be available on PARE from 3rd February 2020.
This feature will be available to HEIs and Trusts/PIVOs.
HEIs
We have created pre-loaded placement groups for each HEI, this will contain all previous and current placements areas used by the specific HEI. HEIs now have full control over their placement groups. HEIs can also create custom groups, alongside the existing pre-loaded placement groups. There are no restrictions on the number of groups that can be added.
Trusts/PIVOs
Placement Senior Admins (PEFs) are also able to create and manage their own placement groups. Groups can be setup per site, per department or in any other custom layout. Placement areas can be in multiple groups.
One very useful feature is the ability to link to groups. Once a Placement Senior Admin has linked to a group (or multiple groups) , they will only receive notifications relating to student activities on their linked placements area.
In order for HEI Senior Admin users on PARE to
be able to identify and manage apprentice Trainee Nursing Associate learners on
PARE, the Manage Users screen now displays an ‘A’ symbol against the learner’s
name to indicate ‘Apprentice’ (see screenshot below). The learner’s PARE
profile will also display an Apprentice flag (Yes or No) when viewed by an HEI
Senior Admin user.
The apprentice flag is automatically set to Yes
when ‘Apprentice’ is specified as the Sub Type in the learner placements (or
leaners only) csv data upload file, and where Nursing Associate is specified as
the learner’s profession, else it defaults to No.
02/01/2020PARE System Update
On Friday 3rd January between 15:00 and 16:00, the PARE system will be undergoing routine upgrading. Users may experience a few moments of restricted access whilst the change over occurs.
For the same reason, we recommend that if typing significant text into documents during that period, that you frequently save to reduce the risk of data loss during a system re-boot.
Although this work is scheduled during the majority of learners' holiday period, can we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
05/12/2019Educator Register now
There is now a more convenient way for users with managerial responsibility to review educator registration data held within PARE.
Appropriate users can now access an 'Educator Register' tab from their dashboard, which displays a searchable list of all educators within their area of responsibility.
As always, feedback welcome!
03/12/2019Placement Profile Format Editor Added
During the transition from the PPQA to PARE system within the York and Humber region, we recently migrated a substantial dataset into the relevant placement profiles.
This direct data import needed formatting into a more pleasing appearance. This led us to develop a basic text and format editor which is now 'live' in York and Humber, and available to all other regional placement profiles contained within PARE.
We hope this will make using the placement profiles easier and more efficient.
12/11/2019New Placement Coordinator Indicator
Each
educational establishment has a number of HEI Senior Admin accounts that have
the additional permissions which allows the user to upload student placement data
and allows for management of placements.
This level of
access has formerly been referred to as ‘Data
Coordinator’, but this term is now replaced by ‘Placement Coordinator’
To help
identify these account holders within the organisation, each Placement Coordinator now has a P ( in a blue circle) by their entry on the Manager Users staff list.
When they
open their PARE profile they will see reference to the feature being active on
their account :-
31/10/2019Import of Learner Records - Now Available for Learner Records only (without Placement Data)
HEI Senior Admin users, with the appropriate access
permissions, now have a new facility to upload learner records only on to PARE,
i.e. leaner records without the associated placement data.
There is a new template CSV file for data upload, ‘template_students_only.csv,’
in addition to the existing data upload CSV file (for learner placement data
uploads), and both can be accessed from the Import Data screen. This screen also
contains a new PDF Help Guide for the importing of learner records (PDF also
available via link below).
Senior HEI Administrators, Placement Senior Administrators (Previously called PEFs), and Placement Education Leads (Previously termed Team Managers), and Academic Links now have a search box on their dashboard which allows them to search on a name for any staff member or student within their organisation. This makes user location faster and more convenient.
24/10/2019PARE Roles: Name Changes from 30th October
As PARE continues to expand across the country, it has
become apparent from user feedback from outside the region, that the names
associated with the differing permission levels and roles within PARE were
Northwest centric and require updating.
From the 30th October, users will see title
changes as below:

03/10/2019 PARE Support for the 2018 NMC standards - New Additions and Features
To support the new Practice Supervisor,
Practice Assessor and Academic Assessor roles, arising from the implementation
of the 2018 NMC standards, the PARE screens now incorporate several new
features and display items.
Trust/PVI staff profiles on PARE now display
Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor settings and features to enable a
staff member to self-declare their role, or the PEF for the organisation to
declare the new roles. To support the Academic Assessor role, a new PARE screen
enables Academic Assessor Assignment (as well as Personal Tutor assignment).
Bulk assignment of Academic Assessor and/or Personal Tutor is also now
supported as part of the student placement file upload. The main screens
affected by the new items and features include:
Trust/PVI users
User Profile screen
Update Self
Declarations (new screen for PEFs)
Assign Practice
Assessors (formerly Assign Mentors screen)
Placement Information
(staff list)

Please see the User
Guide (link below) for further details.
A lot of new
functionality has been added to the system in a relatively short space of time,
and we thank you for your continued patience during this transition period.
PARE continues to grow at a pace, so we need to make some significant changes to the way it is structured in the background. Today a regional structure will be implemented, allowing for rationalisation of drop down menus. These changes will not affect supervisors or learners, however Practice Leads and Team managers may encounter some disruption to report functions and higher administration tools until the change over is complete.
As this will also result in slightly improved menu layouts, further support and screenshot guidance will be available shortly. Can we apologise in advice for any inconvenience, please do not hesitate to contact info@onlinepare.net for further support if required.
14/08/20192018 NMC Standards for Nurse Education: Imminent changes on PARE
Important news all who support nurse education.
To align the current processes and language used within PARE to the new NMC (2018) Standards; we plan to switch over to the new terminology from 1st September 2019.
Initially, both sets of terminology and qualification sets will be available to assist with the transition.
The process of how the transition is achieved within each education and placement organisation, is a matter for local policy and discussion between partner organisations, but to assist the process, the PARE Infrastructure will align to the following:
A Practice Assessor will largely equate to a Stage 2 Mentor ( and sign off Status Mentor)
A Practice Supervisor will largely equate to a Stage 1 mentor or Suitably prepared other.
Placement Practice Leads and Team Managers will be able to alter current mentor accounts where appropriate; plus individual mentors will be able to self declare within PARE, using an online version of the NMC Self declaration forms for areas where team managers or education leads do not exist.
University Staff and PARE administrators will also have similar functionality to manage the identification and self declaration of Academic Assessors.
This data will then be pulled through to learner documentation in the same way the current mentor and personal tutor data is presented now.
For further information on the new standards and example self declaration form, access the Pan Northwest Educational materials within the Governance Tab or PARE homepage.
For further information on how the process will be managed within your organisation, please contact your practice education lead or partner university.
For any technical queries, please do not hesitate to contact info@onlinepare.net
10/07/2019Firewall Update
On 10th July 2019, UKFAST who maintain the server for PARE will be updating the security firewall.
This means that PARE may experience a few moments of poor connectivity sometime between 2200 hours and 0100 hours on the 11th July whilst the server is moved from primary to secondary provision and back.
Despite this only lasting a few moments, we have scheduled this essential work during our quietest period. If you are however, using PARE over that time, may we apologise for any potential inconvenience.
26/06/2019Student Quality Ambassador Awards
The Student Quality Ambassador Scheme is a Health Education England (North) funded initiative to develop the healthcare leaders of the future.
This year's Student Quality Ambassador Awards contains a category for Practice Mentor of the Year, which is sponsored by PARE.
Anyone can nominate, and more details can be found at:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the PARE website has been temporarily unavailable.
Normal service has now resumed, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
07/01/2019Firewall Update
On 14th January 2019, UKFAST who maintain the server for PARE will be updating the security firewall.
This means that PARE may experience a few moments of poor connectivity sometime between 2200 hours and 0100 hours on the 15th January whilst the server is moved from primary to secondary provision and back.

07/01/20198th January 2019 - PARE Demo website
In order to provide a working Demo site, for PARE, the live website will need to be momentarily shut down to allow for the partitioning of the server.
This is scheduled for 6.00pm on Tuesday 8th January. It should literally only take a couple of minutes whilst the server is rebooted.
We apologise for the short notice but, due to the timing, we hope that this will not inconvenience too many of you.
15/11/2018Timesheet - weeks to be signed off
Students need to be aware that the universities have requested a modification be made to the timesheets to encourage all students to get their individual weeks signed off in a timely manner by their mentors, within the actual period of the placement.
In order to get the daily hours to accrue into :-
the Total hours for each week [1] and
the Overall Hours [2] in the Declaration section at the bottom of the form
you will need to ensure that each week is signed off [3]. Once that week is signed then those hours worked will be included into the automatic totals. Please check the example below to see the effect that an unsigned week has on the overall totals.
This will help to eliminate the need to chase up signatures months after a placement has ended and will help to keep your records up-to-date.

19/01/2018Assignment of student assessment document to all Hub and Elective/Spoke placements - Merseyside /Cheshire
Up to now, a student assessment record could only be assigned to a Hub placement regardless of whether the
student was scheduled to make one or more shorter visits as Electives or Spokes in that time period.
As a result the Elective/ Spoke placement mentors could then only access the document and timesheet whilst the
student was logged into their account.
Following some changes by the web developers, it will be possible for all aspects of a student record to be
directly linked to each part of the placement, for all future uploads of student placement data. The benefits of
this will be:-
The student document will be viewable by every placement that the student is
scheduled to visit during that placement period. Only the appropriate pages will be available to each of the
placements i.e. If a student is attending a Elective/Spoke the mentor will only be able to add content in the
Spoke pages and any other relevant pages to that Elective/Spoke placement whilst the Hub mentor will have access to
all the Hub pages.
Students attending an Elective /Spoke placement can now have mentors assigned to them, thus removing the need for all content to be added through the student's PARE login.
To ensure this works seamlessly each university Placement /Practice Offices will need to ensure that when loading their .CSV files it:
lists all the Hubs and Electives for each student in that cohort;
records the exact start and end date of the Hub (no need for umbrella dates);
records the exact start and end dates for each of the Elective/Spokes;
and that the PARE team are then advised of the correct document to be switched on for that cohort. (HEIs using InPlace will not need to use the CSV import function)
The should help to improve the experience for the Spoke/Elective mentor and will help PARE team managers to identify where mentors still need PARE accounts to be created to them.

The placements that were traditionally associated with the old NHS Western Cheshire Trust have now finally been merged with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership. All managers who previously had dual access to the two Trusts should now be able to access all placements from their PARE account without having to toggle between the two areas.
22/11/2016New Implementation Lead
Paul Barber has now been appointed to the role of OnlinePARE Implementation Lead. Paul has over 40 years experience working as a nurse in the North West
and as a senior lecturer at the University of Chester.
Paul will be working two days per week for the OnlinePARE project. Paul's role will involve linking closely with Trusts/PVIs and universities to ensure a smooth roll-out of the online assessment process throughout the North West. From early 2017, Paul will be holding regional training sessions for Trust staff and academics.
You can contact Paul by email: paul@onlinepare.net
07/11/2016Android App Launch
We are pleased to announce the launch of the OnlinePARE App. The App is developed specifically for students who attend placement areas with limited access to WIFI and 3G/4G signal. The App will work without an active internet connection, while still offering the same functionality as the web version. Any document updates made by a student whilst offline will sync automatically once the student's device is connected the internet. The Android App can be found on the Google Play store. We have plans to develop an iOS version for iPhone & iPad in 2017.
We are in the process of a phased launch of the App. Currently, first year nursing students at Manchester Metropolitan University are using the app, with other universities and courses to follow in early 2017.
04/10/2016Save time importing student placement data
We have released a new feature aimed at saving time for university placement offices. Importing CSV files can be time consuming and requires placements name to match ours. Now there is another option, by using our placement ID in place of the trust and placement it will automatically populate those fields. You can view our placement IDs in the placement manager. For more information about this new feature please email us: info@onlinepare.net
19/07/2016Manage Placements (PEFs)
We have added a new section under the User tab to enable PEFs to manage their placement areas more efficiently.
The Manage Placements section has these useful features
Bulk import mentors to a placement area
Edit or remove mentors from the placement
View students that are assigned to a placement area
Quick link to assign mentors screen
06/06/2016Help Guides
We have extended the number of help guides and videos available to students, trust/PVI staff and universities. We have also made these resources easier to find.
Some of these improvements include:
Relevant help guides will appear in the left navigation pane of any page with an associated help guide.
Alternatively, videos can be downloaded, this is aimed at users who cannot access YouTube or need offline access to these resources.
28/01/2016Quarterly Report
HEI staff and PEFs now have the ability to print a quarterly report for all placements in their trust/organisation based upon all students that attended a placement their during the 3 months of that quarter.
It details completion statistics, profession overviews and individual placement ratings against the previous quarter
19/10/2015Download Any Page In Your PAR
You can now download any page in your online practice document.
You can use this feature to keep for your own records or if you need to get a mentor to complete your page manually whilst out on a spoke or visit, it can be uploaded back to the system later.
09/10/2015Download Reports
HEI and Trust staff can now download a statistical report to PDF.
The PDF contains a table representation of the results as well as graphical chart which can be used in meetings to monitor and improve the student experience for the future.
10/08/2015Download Your Full PAR
On your dashboard, you can now download your full practice document as a whole.
This option becomes available to you when your complete your document for the entire year.
Once everything has been signed off you can then download this to keep for your own records or to hand in to your practice office as portfolio evidence.
05/08/2015Certificate Of Placement
Students are now able to download a certificate of placement as a PDF file which highlights that they have completed an evaluation of their practice learning experience whilst on their hub placement.
They can keep this in their portfolio of work as proof of all the trust and placement areas they have attended whilst at university
15/07/2015PAR Pilot
The Online Practice Assessment Record for Cheshire and Merseyside Student Nurses has now reached the Alpha stage of development, and will be functionality tested by a
small group of students and mentors from Chester University and Edge Hill University before being formally piloted in some areas from September 2015.
The PARE team are also developing multi-professional versions of online practice assessment documentation for professions such as Physiotherapy, Midwifery and Social Work,
used in a number of Universities such as UCLan, Salford, and Manchester. The aim is to have the first of these documents online by November 2015, with a
rolling programme of development for other groups and universities thereafter.
If you require any further information on the above developments, please contact m.brownsell@chester.ac.uk or the PARE team.
04/06/2015Raising Concerns In Practice
It is sometimes hard to know what to do when students feel something isn't quite right on placement so we have now put together a detailed guide for learners to help students follow a procedure set out by Heath Education North West.
This can be found on your dashboard on the left in red.
18/02/2015Evaluation
The Evaluation element of the PARE Tool has reached an exciting stage with three North West HEIs implementing the tool.
Currently, University of Chester, Edge Hill and Salford University are introducing the tool to their nursing students.
From March 2015 two more North West organisations, namely University of Cumbria and Manchester Metropolitan will each be
bringing up to two further cohorts of their nursing students online.
Liverpool John Moores University will be bringing their Nursing students online in May 2015.
18/02/2015Allied Health Professions
We are delighted that two North West HEIs have introduced the Evaluation tool to the following AHP departments: University of Salford: Introduced a cohort of Physiotherapy students to the tool in January 2015.
Edge Hill University: A cohort of Operating Department Practitioner students are intending to utilise the online evaluation tool during their May 2015 placement.
18/02/2015Training Guides
The PARE team are pleased to offer the following link which provides all academic and Trust staff with
access to online training tutorials which cover all functionality within the Evaluation aspect of the tool. We
ask that all PEFs and academic leads cascade this link to the staff involved in monitoring student
placements to further their awareness and understanding of how to use the online tool.
The PARE team will be facilitating working groups involving North West AHPs from late February - July 2015 in order to bring their students online. Continuous updates from the PARE site will be directed towards Placement areas and the HEI Academic Links for each profession.
